Our Heritage
What do you remember most about your school years? Classmates and teachers, pep rallies and pop quizzes, lunchroom rolls and sock hops -- these fond memories are why 'EHS' occupies a special place in our hearts.

Established in 1912, Elkmont High (originally Limestone County High) is the oldest school in the county. Our rich heritage comes from a caring and supportive community and is reflected in the values and integrity of generations of graduates.

Seeing a need to take what is good and make it even better, the Elkmont High School Foundation has been established so that its supporters have an opportunity to help make Elkmont High second to none.

What Is It?
The Elkmont High School Foundation is an independent, non-profit entity, incorporated under the laws of Alabama and recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt 501c(3) organization.

Its mission is to generate and distribute resources that will benefit our children and enhance the community.

Goals of the Foundation

  • To preserve the heritage of Elkmont High School
  • To promote innovative programs that foster educational excellence
  • To provide the latest technology and advanced communication tools
  • To support the academic development of our children and professional growth of our faculty
  • To promote school spirit and community pride

How It Works
The plan is simple. The Foundation provides a way for supporters to make tax-deductible contributions to a professionally managed investment fund. This fund is invested to earn income each year, and as the principal grows, so does the income. That ever-growing income will be used to support the Foundation's goals, but the principal remains invested in order to perpetuate the fund.

The income will be awarded annually in several ways -- to teachers through a classroom grant process; to students through scholarships and awards; and to deserving organizations and clubs that fulfill our goals. Various steering committees will oversee the awards and grants process.

The Benefits
For teachers, new ways to inspire creative learning and obtain the best classroom materials… For students, field trips, guest lecturers, and cultural opportunities that might otherwise be missed… For you, an opportunity to invest in tomorrow's leaders, receive tax benefits, and leave an enduring legacy to future generations.

You Can Make A Difference
There are many ways to support the Foundation. For some, an outright cash gift or monthly pledge is the answer. Others might consider a planned gift, such as establishing an endowment or charitable trust, naming the Foundation as beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or a bequest in a will. Please seek professional tax advice in order to receive the maximum allowable tax benefits.

As we begin this new millennium, we must strive to reach higher standards. Your support of the Foundation will enrich the educational experience, and have a positive impact on the future of our children and community.
